The scene for September’s workshop
Our group will be working on sections of two scenes from Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, where the two wives plot revenge on Falstaff!
- Act 3, Scene 3: Falstaff’s first visit to Mrs. Ford, ending before Mr. Ford arrives
- Act 4, Scene 2: Falstaff’s second visit to Mrs. Ford, again ending before Mr. Ford arrives

Artist Bios – artists based in Philadelphia, DC, Chicago, San Diego, and LA!
J. Paul Nicholas (DIRECTOR) has worked off-Broadway, in regional theatre and national tours, and on TV/film. He has won two Barrymore Awards and received his MFA from The Academy for Classical Acting at George Washington University. Directing credits include The Merry Wives of Windsor (The Treehouse Theatre), Hamlet and The Tempest (M.I.T. Shakespeare), and regional shows in Pennsylvania, Virginia, South Carolina, and New York.He’s also a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab. And Paul just played Mr. Page in Merry Wives for Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival this summer!
Gideon Rappaport (DRAMATURG) is San Diego’s premiere Shakespearean dramaturg; he has worked as an English, humanities and Shakespeare teacher in high school, college, graduate school and professional theater. He earned his Master of Arts and Ph.D. in English and American literature at Brandeis University. He is the author of the books Appreciating Shakespeare (and host of a podcast under the same name), William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and Shakespeare’s Rhetorical Figures: An Outline.
TODD SCOFIELD (FALSTAFF) has performed at Shakespeare Theatre Center in Our Town, Richard III, The Comedy of Errors, As You Like It, The Importance of Being Earnest, Cymbeline, The Taming of the Shrew, and at the Folger Theatre in The Tempest, Hamlet, Cyrano, Othello, Henry VIII, The Merry Wives of Windsor. In addition, he has performed at multiple regional theatres around the US and had a recurring role in TV on The Wire.
Michele Schultz (MRS. PAGE) is an actor and business affairs consultant and entertainment attorney in Los Angeles.
Corinna Christman (MRS. FORD) is an actor, producer and director based in Hyde Park, Chicago. She is a founding member of the Hyde Park Community Players and has been involved in every mainstage HPCP show since 2009. Among her directing credits are Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Desire, Desire, Desire…and More Desire, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and The Marriage of Bette and Boo. Corinna recently directed a production of Merry Wives for HPCP this past summer!
