Our group will be working on Act 2, Scene 1 – where Edward and Richard (both later king) receive the news of their father’s death, and the Yorkist leaders prepare once more to meet the Lancastrian forces.

Artist Bios – folks coming from LA to Florida!
James Newcomb (DIRECTOR) has performed in over 60 Shakespeare plays and 75 other productions. He worked for 14 seasons at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, is a founding company member of Shakespeare & Company, and was an inaugural company member of The Denver Center Theatre, where he remained for 7 seasons. He is also an Instructor for the UCSD Graduate Theatre Program, and has worked at Utah Shakespeare Festival, Chicago Shakespeare, and Shakespeare Santa Cruz.
Gideon Rappaport (DRAMATURG) is San Diego’s premiere Shakespearean dramaturg; he has worked as an English, humanities and Shakespeare teacher in high school, college, graduate school and professional theater. He earned his Master of Arts and Ph.D. in English and American literature at Brandeis University. He is the author of the book Appreciating Shakespeare and host of a podcast under the same name.
Jamal Douglas (RICHARD) is a writer, poet, educator, and actor. He is a graduate of the UCSD/The Old Globe MFA program.
Dennis Renard (EDWARD) is a graduate of UCLA. He has appeared onstage at The Goodman Theatre and the Illinois Theatre Festival.
Madeleine Person (MESSENGER) was previously a literary scholar and translator, and has worked and studied with Theatricum Botanicum.
Paul Bernardo (WARWICK) has worked extensively in regional theater and has appeared in numerous industrials and commercials as well as independent and feature films. For Orlando Shakespeare, he has played Brutus twice, Claudius, Polixenes, Antigonus, Duke Vincentio, and Banquo. Paul also received his MFA from The Academy of Classical Acting and is a founding member of the Upstart Creatures theater company in NYC.
