Today I’m excited to share a “vocal clinic” we did as part of The Rehearsal Room with Fitzmaurice Voicework teacher, Scott Ferrara!
This is something very new to me, so I was excited to learn directly from a teacher, and as you hear, this work can be very different (and still quite beneficial) to the “traditional” voice warm-ups you may know. There are also many personal applications to this voicework beyond acting—something you can carry into many areas of your life!
Really thrilled Scott can walk us through what this is—he takes me through an exercise and we even answer some live questions. Scott joined us for The Rehearsal Room, and has been a fantastic addition to the team!
About the Guest
Scott Ferrara received his MFA in acting from the University of San Diego/Old Globe Theatre. Upon graduation, he moved to New York, where he worked professionally as an actor specializing in classical theatre. His professional theatre credits include performing both on Broadway and on Off-Broadway productions, as well as numerous regional theatres across the country and internationally in Europe.
Saul Kotzubei first introduced Scott to Fitzmaurice Voicework® in 2016. After working privately with him for over two years, Scott began to develop a deep passion for sharing the work. He became a Certified Asst. Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework® in 2019.

Joan Saxton says
Scott sounds a lot as though he is grounded in mindful meditation. The presence aspect is basic to many variants of meditation, I think — and now to acting. Yea!
Nathan says
Definitely agree (as a meditator myself)! Thanks for checking out the show, Joan!
